SFI shakeups push new teams into club power rankings across divisions

Ultiworld’s July 30 club power rankings update landed as Select Flight Invite results were still reshaping the season, and the site’s own deck said the “SFI shakeups” had pushed new teams into the backend of the rankings in every division. In the women’s field, USA Ultimate’s Select Flight Invite East standings gave the clearest evidence of that churn: 6ixers finished first, Dimes second and Iris third.

That kind of movement matters in club ultimate because the rankings are not a static list. Ultiworld says its weekly power rankings are part of a recurring front-page format, with the most current version housed on its permanent rankings page, which turns each tournament weekend into a live test of form. When a team like Iris or Starling posts a strong finish at a major invite, it can move from being a name on the periphery to one that forces its way into the postseason conversation.

The SFI East women’s standings spread that pressure through the back half of the bracket as well. Starling, Heist, Stella, Vengeance, Magma, Nemesis, Agency, Siege, Pizza Rat, Stellar, Shiver, Brooklyn Book Club, Indy Rogue, Wicked, Zephyr, Sureshot and Lake Erie Walleye filled out the rest of the order behind the medalists, giving Ultiworld a fresh batch of results to weigh against earlier summer performances. The message was straightforward: one weekend of invite play can still reorder how the club field is being read.

Ultiworld had already flagged the season as volatile. Its July 20 club update described the stretch as “Non-TCT action in all three divisions,” and on July 29 it published separate SFI East and SFI West observation pieces before following on July 30 with a podcast recapping SFI East, SFI West and OJCUP. The outlet’s own coverage calendar shows how central those tournaments had become to evaluating teams outside the Triple Crown Tour spotlight.

The top of the women’s rankings page published July 22 still looked familiar, with San Francisco Fury, Washington DC Scandal, Boston Brute Squad, New York BENT and Denver Molly Brown occupying the leading spots. That stability at the top contrasted with the churn lower down, and the timing sharpened the point: the US Open 2026 begins July 31 in Aurora, Colorado, with the Elite-Select Challenge set for August 22-23 and the Pro Championships for September 5-7, so the next major weekend will offer another chance to confirm which July gains were real and which contenders were still overrated.
