Stampede, Fighting Saints pitch USHL path at USA Hockey camp

That setting matters because the Boys National 15 Camp sits inside USA Hockey’s player-development pathway, which means the USHL is reaching players at a stage when elite junior options are just starting to come into focus. The league framed the appearance as part of that long-game approach, with its post describing the pair as speaking about “all things USHL” to young prospects who are already moving through the national development system.

The messaging fits a broader push from the league to connect its junior route to the pro game. In a July 3 story, the USHL highlighted alumni at NHL development camps, drawing a straight line from junior hockey to the next level and reinforcing the league’s role as a step on the path to pro opportunities. That same pipeline logic was on display at the boys 15 camp, where USHL personnel were not waiting for players to arrive in junior hockey before making their case.

The league’s protected lists add another layer to that process. Both the Dubuque Fighting Saints and Sioux Falls Stampede appear on the USHL protected lists tool, underscoring how member clubs identify and retain prospects as they move through the system. For teams like the Stampede and Fighting Saints, the camp appearance was more than a photo op: it was a chance to introduce the USHL brand early, establish relationships with top young players, and position the league as the path that leads from youth development to junior hockey and beyond.
