Surrey to host 2026 Western Canadian Dodgeball Championship in August

Teams have until July 26 to lock in the $600 early-bird rate for the 2026 Western Canadian Dodgeball Championship, before the entry fee rises to $650 per team. Registration opened July 1 through Dodgeball Hub, giving club squads a clear deadline as the field begins to take shape for a late-summer test in Surrey.

The championship is scheduled for Aug. 29-30 at the South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre, 14601 20 Ave, Surrey, BC V4A 9P5. Dodgeball Hub lists the event as a three-division tournament using 7-inch foam balls, a format built to draw men’s, women’s and mixed teams into the same regional showcase.

Dodgeball Canada has promoted the event as coming to South Surrey, and the national body says it is a federally incorporated not-for-profit representing thousands of players across the country. Its role as an active Executive Member of the World Dodgeball Federation gives the Western championship added weight within the sport’s broader structure, especially for clubs tracking how regional results feed into higher-level competition.

The Surrey site also matters geographically. A Western Canadian championship in the Vancouver-area market gives teams from British Columbia, Alberta and nearby provinces a realistic travel target for a marquee club event, rather than a cross-country commitment. That makes the August weekend a practical measuring stick for the strength of Western Canadian dodgeball heading into the fall.

The Western title is not being built from scratch. A previous Dodgeball Hub listing placed the 2025 Western Canadian Dodgeball Championship in Winnipeg on Nov. 22-23, 2025, pointing to an ongoing regional series rather than a one-off tournament. With Surrey now lined up for 2026, the Western championship is starting to look like a fixture with a defined place on the Canadian club calendar.
