Swift Current adds Tri-City veteran Cam Springer in WHL move
Swift Current bolstered its forward group on June 26 by signing Cam Springer, a 2006-born centreman from Dexter, Michigan, after his 2025-26 season with the Tri-City Storm. The Broncos called the right-shot forward a 6-foot presence and made clear they were buying more than a depth piece, with general manager and head coach Travis Crickard saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Cam and his family to the Broncos organization.”
Springer’s value to Swift Current came from the mix of size, experience and responsibility he carried in Tri-City. In 61 regular-season games last season, he posted 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points while serving as an alternate captain, a role that suggests he was trusted in the room as well as in the lineup. For a WHL club looking for a player who could step into a reliable junior role quickly, that blend of production and leadership made him a straightforward fit.
His resume in the United States Hockey League also shows why a Western Hockey League team would target him. Tri-City’s roster record says Springer played in 62 games in 2024-25, his first full USHL season, and was the only Storm player to appear in all 62 regular-season contests. He added nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points that year and also played in both of Tri-City’s playoff games. Before arriving in the USHL, he spent the 2023-24 season with Chippewa in the NAHL, where he appeared in 35 games and produced nine goals and nine assists for 18 points.

That path helps explain the appeal for Swift Current. Springer is not being brought in as a pure scorer, but as a veteran junior forward whose 6-foot frame, right-handed shot and repeated game load point to durability and dependability. Elite Prospects lists his birth date as May 24, 2006 and shows the transaction as confirmed on June 26 and dated June 25, underscoring how quickly Swift Current moved to add a player whose USHL track record made him transferable to major junior.
