Team USA falls 3-2 to Finland at World Junior Showcase

Finland beat Team USA 3-2 at the World Junior Summer Showcase on Wednesday at WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ont., holding off goals from Ethan Wyttenbach of Roslyn, N.Y., and Sammy Nelson of Maple Grove, Minn. That margin was especially clear because Wyttenbach had already been one of the Americans’ most productive players in Windsor. He scored twice in USA Blue’s 5-1 win over Finland on Day 2, and Carter Sanderson added a goal and an assist in that game. Team USA swept both games on July 27 before running into a much tighter game against Finland two days later.
