Trent Lincoln earns FCSAA male athlete of the year after historic season
Trent Lincoln was named the 2026 FCSAA Male Athlete of the Year after a sophomore season that pushed Gulf Coast State to the NJCAA Division I semifinals and put the 6-foot-3 guard from Baltimore at the center of the state association’s biggest individual honor.
Lincoln’s case was built on more than scoring. He started all 36 games for the Commodores, averaged 19.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists, and finished with 700 points, 218 assists and 66 steals while posting a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio. That production made him the first men’s basketball player in Gulf Coast State history to earn NJCAA Division I First Team All-American honors, a breakthrough that confirmed his impact as both the offense’s engine and its late-game stabilizer.
The season had a clear turning point in Panama City on Feb. 3, when Lincoln scored a career-high 39 points in an 87-59 win at Chipola and picked up his second FCSAA Division I Player of the Week award of the year. That game came during a stretch that showed how wide his influence ran. He was not just carrying Gulf Coast State in conference play; he was producing at a level that held up across the Panhandle Conference, the FCSAA tournament stage and the national postseason.

The honors piled up accordingly. Along with FCSAA Male Athlete of the Year, Lincoln was selected to the NJCAA Division I All-Tournament Team, named Panhandle Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA Division I Player of the Year, All-Panhandle Conference First Team and Division I All-FCSAA Team. He also landed on the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First Team All-America list, which included only six players: Lincoln, Terry Copeland of Howard, Ace Reiser of College of Southern Idaho, Tristan Hankins of Butler Community College, Da’Mori Lytch of Walters State Community College and Taj Au-Duke of Indian Hills Community College.
For Gulf Coast State, Lincoln’s rise is a showcase of what the program can develop, from a Baltimore recruit into the most decorated player in its men’s basketball history. The athletics release also said Lincoln will continue his collegiate career at Texas Christian University, where he arrives after a sophomore year that ended with elite numbers, national recognition and a place among the best players in NJCAA Division I.
