Trevor Amann sets USL Championship hat trick record, earns weekly honor

Trevor Amann turned three touches into a USL Championship record, scoring three times in 3 minutes, 27 seconds to send Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC past Louisville City FC, 3-1, at F.N.B. Stadium. The burst came on July 18 in Pittsburgh and gave the Riverhounds a result built on one of the fastest scoring surges the league has ever tracked.

USL Championship put Amann at the center of its Week 19/20 honors package on July 21 at 2:30 p.m. EDT, naming the Riverhounds forward Player of the Week and including him in the official Team of the Week presented by SiteOne. SiteOne Landscape Supply became the United Soccer League’s official landscape supply partner in January 2026 under a multi-year agreement that spans USL competitions.

The performance carried two records with it. USL said Amann’s hat trick was a league mark at 3 minutes, 27 seconds, and related coverage identified it as the fastest hat trick in U.S. pro soccer at 207 seconds. However it is measured, the scoring outburst gave Pittsburgh a signature win over Louisville City FC and put Amann in a category that demands a full game plan from opponents.

It was also not his first weekly honor. Amann previously won USL Championship Player of the Week in Week 1 of the 2024 season after scoring twice in his debut for Sacramento Republic FC against Orange County SC. That earlier recognition now sits beside a far more explosive entry on his résumé, one that arrived in front of the F.N.B. Stadium crowd and ended with Pittsburgh walking off 3-1 winners.

For the Riverhounds, the timing matters as much as the record. A forward who can produce three goals in less than four minutes changes how defenders set their lines, how teams manage the opening stages of a match and how quickly a game can swing against them. Amann’s week made that point in the most direct way possible, with a record, a victory and another Player of the Week honor attached to the same 90 minutes.
