Twins purchase Chris Vallimont’s contract after historic York outing

The Minnesota Twins purchased Chris Vallimont’s contract after his run with the York Revolution gave them a ready-made arm to evaluate. York announced the move on June 13, 2026, and local coverage placed the transaction on Friday, June 12.

Vallimont’s case is exactly why the Atlantic League remains such a useful stop for affiliated clubs hunting pitching that is already close to major-league ready. The right-hander had gone 3-0 with a 3.99 ERA in seven starts this season, and his outings showed the kind of strike-throwing and swing-and-miss stuff that can trigger a move like this. On June 10 at Lancaster, he struck out 11 in a loss, keeping the kind of volume and consistency that organizations notice.

His 2025 work in York was even louder. On Sept. 27, 2025, Vallimont threw a complete-game one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts, setting a York Revolution franchise record for strikeouts in a game. Earlier that season, on July 15, 2025, he tied the club’s nine-inning single-game strikeout record with 13. Those are not empty numbers in the independent game. They are the kind of outings that force affiliated scouts and front offices to look again.

York had already bet on Vallimont’s value when it brought him back for the 2026 season, describing him in a March 24 release as a “fan favorite.” The Revolution opened their 19th season on April 21 against Lancaster in the War of the Roses Series, and Vallimont was part of the staff the club expected to lean on as it worked through another Atlantic League schedule built on constant roster churn.

Now he becomes the fifth member of York’s 2026 team to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization, a number that says as much about the Revolution’s pitching development as it does about Vallimont’s individual run. York helped sharpen a starter who could work deep enough into games, miss bats in bunches and hold up under regular evaluation. The Twins are buying the finished product, but the proof of concept was built in York.
