UAW Region 1 invites teams to Warren kickball tournament in August
UAW Region 1 is lining up an all-day Invitational Kickball Tournament at Warren Halmich Park in Warren, with play set for Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event carries a $600 entry fee per team and requires a minimum roster of five players, with registration closing Saturday, Aug. 22.
The union is pushing the tournament across Threads, X, Facebook and its website, and the official event page pitches it as a “fun-filled day of kickball, camaraderie, and friendly competition.” The registration path runs through Microsoft Forms, and the listed playing surface is Baseball Fields 1 & 2 at City of Warren Halmich Park, 3001 E. Thirteen Mile Rd., Warren, MI 48092.

That structure tells you this is more than a casual afternoon in the park. A noon pickup game does not need a registration deadline, a roster minimum, or a designated pair of baseball fields. UAW Region 1 is building a bracket-style day that can draw members from different locals, plus the friends and family who tend to follow union events when the setting is social rather than contractual.
Kickball is a smart fit for that kind of organizing. The five-player minimum lowers the barrier to entry, and the full-day window gives teams enough room to rotate players, stay on site, and turn one tournament into a larger gathering. Halmich Park adds to that appeal. A public park in Warren gives the event a fixed, familiar address and enough space for organized play without the overhead of a more formal sports venue.

For UAW Region 1, the pitch is clear: bring a team, meet other members on neutral ground, and compete in a setting built around participation as much as results. The invitation reads like a workplace-culture event dressed in kickball gear, with the sport doing the heavy lifting as an easy, low-friction way to get people together outside the bargaining table.
