USA Dodgeball partners with State Games of America for 2026 event

USA Dodgeball is partnering with the State Games of America to place dodgeball on the 2026 program at University Park, Pennsylvania, with competition set for Aug. 1-2 at the IM Building, 101 Intramural Building, Curtin Rd, University Park, PA 16802. The organization’s announcement identifies USA Dodgeball as the official dodgeball partner, and its caption says registration is now open.

The placement matters because the dodgeball event sits inside a much larger summer festival, not a standalone club stop. Penn State said the 2026 State Games of America will run July 24 through Aug. 2 and will welcome more than 8,000 amateur athletes and supporters, while the State Games of America describes itself as an Olympic-style sports festival featuring athletes from across the nation. The National Congress of State Games says the event is held every two years and that 30 state games organizations are part of the broader network.

For dodgeball, that wider stage gives USA Dodgeball a chance to reach athletes and families who may not already know the sport through local leagues or regional tournaments. The promotional graphic attached to the announcement points to junior, novice and competitive divisions, and the Instagram caption adds senior mixed divisions, a setup that suggests the tournament is meant to draw both newer players and established teams into the same weekend. A state-games format also gives local organizers a cleaner entry point for future events because it presents dodgeball alongside more familiar amateur sports rather than as a one-off showcase.

The timing is important as well. With the tournament scheduled for the first weekend in August, teams have a limited runway to sort travel, final rosters and registration. The RaceReach and SportReach listing pins the event to the IM Building on Penn State’s campus, giving the tournament a fixed venue inside the broader State College-area festival that Keystone State Games is hosting.

For USA Dodgeball, the partnership also strengthens its institutional footprint. The organization’s website has dedicated sections for tournaments, Team USA and member organizations, and tying one of its events to the State Games of America adds another sanctioned pathway for competition under a recognizable multi-sport banner. In a sport still looking to widen its base, that kind of placement can do more than fill a bracket: it can help build the next one.
