WBKO spotlights mother-son dodgeball face-off ahead of July 24 event

The mother-son dodgeball matchup returns July 24 at Ephram White Park in Bowling Green, with Warren County Parks and Recreation setting up a free event for moms and sons from kindergarten through 8th grade. A full obstacle course will sit alongside the dodgeball action, turning the night into more than a simple pickup-style game.

WBKO put the event on its Midday Live segment on July 17, labeling it “Midday Live: Another Mother-Son Face-Off Event, Dodgeball.” That local TV push came a week before the showdown, the kind of advance notice organizers use when they want families, not just regular recreational players, to lock in a date.

Warren County Parks and Recreation has framed it as an annual Mother Son face-off event and used a straightforward call to action: “Calling all moms and sons! Save the date!” The department also said, “This event is free to all Moms and Sons from K-8th grades.” The Warren County Public Library listed the event at Ephram White Park, 885 Mt. Olivet Road, and repeated the same grade range, making the target group clear before the first ball is thrown.

The event already has a history in Bowling Green. WNKY News 40 Television said the annual Mother-Son Dodgeball Night was in its fourth year and took place inside the gym at Ephram White Park, where dozens of dodgeballs flew across the floor as families gathered. That matters because July 24 is not being built as a one-off novelty. It is another chapter in a recurring local sports date where the competition is mixed with family rivalry, and where the crowd is part of the show as much as the players.
