Westfield brings Wiffle Ball to Grand Junction Plaza in July

Westfield will put Wiffle Ball in the middle of downtown on Wednesday, July 8, using Grand Junction Plaza as a one-hour stop on a July calendar built around family recreation. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 225 S. Union Street in Westfield, and its placement in the plaza makes it look less like a formal tournament than an open invitation to step in, play and move on.

That setting is the point. Westfield’s July calendar also lists Kids Summer Series at Grand Junction Plaza on July 7, Creek Stomps on July 9 and the Westfield Farmers Market on July 9, putting the same public space at the center of the city’s summer routine. The Farmers Market itself runs Thursday evenings from May 7 to September 3, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., another sign that Downtown Westfield is being programmed as a steady gathering place rather than a one-off event site.

Wiffle Ball fits that model cleanly. The game needs little equipment, the rules are easy to understand, and the format works for a wide range of ages and skill levels. Westfield’s earlier summer listings leaned into that simplicity: a 2025 calendar called the program “3 Wiffle Ball clinics,” and the city’s May 2025 summer announcement described the dates as “free and family-friendly” clinics for “all ages and skill levels.” Those sessions were set for June 11, July 9 and July 23, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Grand Junction Plaza, showing that the July 8 event is part of a repeat summer pattern, not a new experiment.

The plaza itself is built for that kind of use. Westfield’s Grand Junction Plaza page lists the address as 225 S. Union Street, Westfield, IN 46074, and the rules page says the park is open year-round with daily hours, from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Thursday, and 5:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The same rules allow alcohol and open containers within the plaza, underscoring its role as a managed public venue rather than a traditional field complex.

Taken together, the schedule shows Westfield using Grand Junction Plaza as the city’s summer anchor for casual youth activity and low-barrier recreation. Wiffle Ball on July 8 is one hour on the calendar, but it sits inside a much larger downtown plan that keeps the plaza busy almost daily.
