Wichita Wind Surge adds first dodgeball tournament, finals at ballpark

The Wichita Wind Surge will stage its first dodgeball tournament on June 28, pairing a 32-team bracket at Wichita Sports Forum with a championship game at Equity Bank Park. The setup is built for adult rec players, with 18-and-over eligibility, six participants per team, a $60 entry fee and check-in running from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

The tournament format keeps the day moving: best-of-three, single elimination, with the final two teams shifting to center field for a 5:30 p.m. title match. The championship is billed as Average Joe’s versus Globo Tubs, a nod to dodgeball culture that gives the event more identity than a routine ballpark promotion.

The Wind Surge are also using the tournament as a gateway into the baseball crowd. Every participant will receive a ticket to the June 28 game and a guaranteed giveaway, while championship teams will take home a giveaway jersey and compete for a $500 cash prize. That combination turns the dodgeball bracket into a built-in pregame draw, giving players a reason to arrive early, compete off-site and then stay for the ballgame.

The club’s choice of venues fits that plan. Wichita Sports Forum describes itself as Wichita’s largest indoor sports and adventure facility, making it a natural site for the opening rounds before the event moves to Equity Bank Park. The shift from indoor bracket play to a center-field final gives the tournament a staged finish that can sell the baseball side of the night as part of the same experience.

The promotion also fits squarely inside the Wind Surge’s 2026 calendar, which includes 69 home games at Equity Bank Park and a promotional schedule with 23 giveaways.
