York routs Lancaster, completes sweep to take first place
York turned Sunday into a statement from the first pitch, exploding for four runs in the opening inning and rolling past Lancaster 14-8 to finish a three-game sweep and a 6-0 homestand. The victory pushed the Revs to 38-28, their first time 10 games over .500 this season, and moved them into sole possession of first place for the first time all year.
Tomo Otosaka started the night with a triple on the first pitch, setting up Nick Dunn’s RBI groundout. Jacob Teter then took over the inning with a two-run homer, the first of his three-run day, as York seized a 4-0 lead before Lancaster had settled in. Teter finished 4-for-6 with three RBIs and four runs scored, and his blast was his 16th home run of the season.
Lancaster answered with power of its own. Jalen Battles hit a three-run homer in the second, and the Stormers briefly moved in front 6-4 with another three-run frame in the fourth. York responded immediately, scoring twice in its half of the inning to tie the game again.
The decisive blow came in the fifth. Dunn lined a two-run single, Teter added an RBI single, and Mike Rosario followed with a two-run single as York sent 10 men to the plate and stretched the margin to 11-6. Rosario drove in three runs, Dunn drove in three, and the Revs kept building on an attack that never let the Stormers breathe after the opening inning.
Lancaster closed within 11-8, but York’s bullpen shut the door from there. Shawn Rapp, Joely Rodriguez, Ryan Shreve and Josh Mollerus handled the finish, and Hunter Parsons was credited with the win to improve to 2-2. The sweep was York’s fourth of the season, its third 6-0 homestand, and its third time winning seven straight at WellSpan Park. The Revs improved to 25-11 at home and have now won six straight and 10 of their last 13.
York beat Lancaster 12-1 on July 3, with Braden Scott striking out 12 and becoming the first pitcher in franchise history with multiple 12-strikeout games. Two days earlier, York’s 5-1 win over Staten Island gave the club its 700th all-time victory at WellSpan Park and sealed the first-half finish at 35-28.
