Kickball returned to Morrows Meadow on July 22, with the Town of Yorktown Indiana-Community post asking, “Kickball is back! Will we see you at 7:00p on Wednesday, July 22 at Morrows Meadow?” The announcement did more than reopen a field: it set a weekly cadence for Yorktown’s social sports circuit, with games listed for July 26 at 7:30 and 9:30 and another matchup on July 28 at 6:30 PM. The post also said all teams would play every week once the schedule began, giving players a clear routine after the layoff.
The restart centered on a familiar site. Yorktown’s parks page places Morrow’s Meadow at 9312 W. Smith St., Yorktown, IN 47396, and the town has long used the venue for major gatherings. Yorktown Events says the town’s Independence Day celebrations are held there on July 4, and public parking in the meadow is limited to handicap parking only for that event, with visitors directed to schools, other public lots or street parking. That makes the kickball return part of a venue that already handles high-traffic community use, not just a single recreational league.
Morrows Meadow is also built into Yorktown’s broader recreation network. Destination Muncie says the town trail system runs more than 5.5 miles and extends through Morrow’s Meadow, connecting the field to other parts of town, including Yorktown Sports Park and Tiger Drive. A Bounce venue listing adds that Morrow’s Meadow Park includes free outdoor pickleball courts, open greenspace, a paved walking and fitness trail, gazebos and playgrounds. Together, those pieces show why the kickball schedule lands with extra weight: the meadow is already where Yorktown gathers for walking, play and town events, so a recurring league fits naturally into the weekly rhythm.
The return also fits a longer local pattern. A 2017 Star Press article covered sandlot kickball in Yorktown as part of a push for activity and health, and this latest schedule revives that same low-barrier model with fixed start times and repeat play. For Yorktown, the value is in the structure as much as the sport: a Wednesday night opening, two more dates already on the board and a league built to bring players back week after week.
