26. The Pitbull
“I always thought Gattuso had rabies or something,” Tactical_Medium mused about the former AC Milan midfielder. He refers to Gennaro Gattuso, one of the most tenacious defensive players of his era. A serial winner with the Rossoneri, he was one of the first names on Milan’s teamsheet through their most successful era. However, he was also a wild presence on the field.

Gattuso was a very confrontational figure and a hard-tackler. He went head-to-head with many opponents and never took a step back. Fans nicknamed him the pitbull but perhaps the Jack Russell is a more appropriate comparison. He was naturally aggressive and tenacious as a player. When he retired he became a manager but unsurprisingly his temperament remained the same.
