This problem isn’t something that MLB can control. But it remains a big reason why it’s in a giant mess right now. Some of the biggest teams struggle to make an impact in the postseason. In recent seasons, the Yankees simply haven’t performed to the levels that fans expect.

Let’s be for real, broadcasters want the Yankees to win the World Series, not the Rays. Meanwhile, two of MLB’s biggest names, Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout play for a team that never even makes the playoffs. This is also damaging to the league’s brand (via Sporting News).
