21. World Series Ratings Slump
The World Series should be one of the most anticipated events on the U.S. sports calendar. However, an increasing number of people don’t care. Ratings are plummeting every year because viewers don’t feel invested in the sport anymore. This adds another part to the MLB’s overarching giant mess (via Chicago Tribune).

It doesn’t help that the Astros effectively stole two World Series titles. This damaged the integrity of competition, yet the format is also a problem. There are too many games in the regular season. Meanwhile, broadcasters focus on the big market teams who aren’t always successful.
