Football is the most popular and exciting sport in the United States. The NFL is amazing because it provides so much drama. But if there’s a winner there’s also a loser. Every fan knows what it’s like to suffer defeat. However, some are more soul-crushing than others.

30. Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings (2021)

The Lions were garbage in 2021 but at least they had heart. Rookie coach Dan Campbell brought a new sense of optimism to the franchise with his fighting spirit. However, they endured a brutal start to the season with some near misses. They led against the Packers before eventually falling to Aaron Rodgers’ men.

The Vikings also inflicted a soul-destroying loss. It looked as though Detroit were on for their first win of the season as the game reached its dying moments. They rallied from 10-points down with three minutes left (via MPR News). But Minnesota broke their hearts with a Greg Joseph field goal.
