
8. Duncan Ferguson
Ferguson currently serves as Everton’s assistant manager. A club icon, he spent two spells as a striker for the club before his move into coaching. Fans love the Glaswegian because of his tough exterior. He is one of the toughest men in soccer and suffered nine red cards throughout his career. But his most notorious moment came in 1994 when he assaulted an opponent on the field.

It’s rare that players receive criminal convictions for on-field brawls. But this was Ferguson’s third assault charge. Previously, he headbutted a police officer, so the law didn’t take too kindly to him. In sum, his volatile personality excites the fans but got him into a lot of trouble. Luckily, Ferguson mellowed with age and only spent three months in prison for his actions.
