JaMarcus Russell
The Oakland Raiders thought that they drafted the quarterback of the future when they selected Russell with the top overall pick in 2007. But he held the team to ransom until they agreed to pay him $68 million. Meanwhile, there was the slight problem that head coach Lane Kiffin didn’t want him. But Al Davis overruled him as the Raiders made him the first pick.

In the end, the former LSU prospect only spent three seasons in the league. He disappointed fans on and off the field as he showed a complete lack of professionalism. This vindicated Kiffin after Davis harshly fired him because he knew it would go wrong. Few NFL quarterbacks have destroyed their reputations as quickly as Russell (via Sporting News).
