40. Alexei Yashin
Yashin was one of the top players in the NHL when he had a massive fallout with the Ottawa Senators. He believed that if he sat out for a season it would coincide with the end of his contract. But Ottawa took him to arbitration court.

The court ruled that Yashin failed to fulfill the terms of his contract by not playing. This forced the Russian to stay for another season before they allowed him to leave for New York. He didn’t help his teammates by being greedy and shooting himself in the foot (via The Hockey News).
