17. New York Mets
Yet another terrible New York franchise, the Mets live in the giant shadow of the Yankees. They’ve made three World Series appearances in their history, including one galling defeat to the Yankees. But whenever they produce some level of hope it dies a harrowing death. It must be a wearying experience to attend their games and follow this team as a diehard fan.

When you have such big cross-town rivals, you need to have something else to make you special and separate you in the eyes of fans. Even making the World Series in 2015 almost feels cruel in hindsight because they came so close to glory but in the end, they let their fans down again. The big question is whether or not they can get themselves together and shed their inferiority complex and losing mentality.
