Manchester United spend almost two decades as the best soccer team in England. That was mostly because of their brilliant manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. However, their owners didn’t help matters because they allowed their stadium to deteriorate and didn’t plan for Ferguson’s retirement (via Sporting News).
The Glazer family plunged the club into massive debt and appeared to care more about their NFL franchise. United’s on-field results declined and they failed to bring day-to-day operations up to a modern standard. Their lack of moral compass saw them focus on financial gains rather than winning games.
