Tank Johnson
Many NFL stars come from tough environments and difficult backgrounds. Their athletic prowess helps them to win college scholarships and attract the attention of NFL scouts. But this doesn’t mean that they’re mentally prepared for the pressures of professional football. Some of them also struggle to shake off negative influences from their past.

Johnson is a classic example of a talented player who fell in with the wrong crowd. The highly-rated nose tackle lost his place in Chicago after a series of criminal misdemeanors. Many people wrote him off but the Cowboys gave him a second chance. Then he played a couple of seasons with the Bengals after stabilizing his life (via The Denver Post).
