Many people think that Rice is the NFL’s greatest-ever wide receiver. But football wasn’t even his greatest sporting love despite his brilliance. He adored golf and made a special effort to wake up early for a round before practice. Then, when he retired from football, he poured his focus into the sport.

Rice even tried to compete at the top level but it didn’t go well for him. There are levels to every sport and unfortunately, he fell far short of the requirements. In one competition, he finished second-last out of over 150 participants. It’s a shame but his devotion didn’t compensate for his lack of ability (via Golf.com).

Paulie Malignaggi

Malignaggi knew he had physical shortcomings as a boxer but he made up for them with his work rate and skill. This won him IBF and WBA titles as well as a lot of money. Then UFC superstar Conor McGregor hired him as part of his training camp for the Floyd Mayweather fight. But leaked footage of a knockdown infuriated Malignaggi (via TalkSport).

McGregor never offered him an official fight but it wasn’t over. Malignaggi agreed to fight McGregor’s training partner, Artem Lobov, in a bare-knuckle boxing match. These freak show events were above Malignaggi as a former champion but he didn’t care. Unfortunately, he lost to Lobov and his pride suffered.

Johnnie Morton

Detroit has been through some tough times recently but they remember Morton with fondness. The wideout put in some good performances for the franchise and helped them to a postseason appearance in 1999. Morton also competed in some freak shows with a notable MMA fight against Bernard Ackah.

This was a terrible mistake because he suffered a brutal knockout loss. If there’s one thing that retired NFL players don’t need more of its head trauma. Unfortunately, Morton sustained a bad beating despite entering the bout with elevated testosterone levels. His cheating attempts didn’t help him because Ackah was too good (via Detroit Lions.com).

Liddell was one of the UFC’s first superstars and helped catapult MMA into the mainstream. The Iceman had a brutal style that saw him knock out many opponents. However, Liddell couldn’t resist the chance to fight again. Oscar De La Hoya booked Liddell to fight his old rival, Tito Ortiz. But Liddell was almost 50 at the time and couldn’t hang with his younger rival. He lost in the first round and made everybody feel sad in the process. Technically, Tebow returned to his former sport but still managed to create one of the biggest freak shows on this list. We should blame Urban Meyer because he decided to bring Tebow back to the NFL. The former quarterback failed to make the grade in Denver and became a baseball player.

But Meyer worked with Tebow in Florida and wanted to turn him into a tight end. Let’s just say that it didn’t work out but it provided a lot of unwanted attention. This was just one of the many stupid decisions that Meyer made in 2021 as he infuriated the entire Jaguars’ fanbase (via Sportsnet).

Kimbo Slice made a name for himself as one of the most popular street fighters in the U.S. He became a cult figure and eventually signed with MMA promotions.
