Mariano Puerta
Argentina’s Puerta had a decent professional tennis career. One of his most high-profile moments came when he faced Rafael Nadal in the 2005 French Open Final. In the end, Nadal won the event but that wasn’t the only thing that Puerta lost. He tested positive for banned substances after the game and suffered the consequences.

Puerta had a history of drug test failures so the ITF didn’t feel lenient. They suspended him for eight years and effectively ended his career. Puerta claimed that the substances came from his wife’s menstrual pills. The seedy superstar said that he accidentally consumed them when he drank from her water bottle (via The 42).
