Mark Bosnich
Bosnich was one of the Premier League’s most colorful goalkeepers when he joined Chelsea in 2001. However, the Australian developed an insane $6000 a week cocaine addiction. This had serious consequences on his career because he failed a drug test and his team terminated his contract (via Sky Sports).
Then the F.A. suspended him for nine months but it could have been worse. The maximum penalty was two years but they offered a more lenient punishment. In the end, Bosnich spent six years away from the sport as he struggled to get clean. Then he moved home to Australia and reestablished himself as a player.
