It was a disgusting incident but there was more to it than met the eye. Later, Simon checked himself into rehab because of a battle with alcohol. Simon also assaulted a Rangers player with his stick earlier that year. In short, he wasn’t a figure to mess with (via NHL.com).

It was shocking because no woman should have to deal with this type of behavior. Furthermore, it was a terrible waste of potential on his part.
